All-New Kia EV9 Emerges as Finalist for 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year

The EV9 from Kia has been selected as one of the top three finalists for the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, as announced at the Los Angeles Auto Show earlier this month. This nomination by the North American Car of the Year (NACTOY) jury, comprising 50 independent jurors, places the EV9 among the elite in its category, chosen from a group of nine semi-finalists.

Innovative Design and Platform

The design of the Kia EV9 is a testament to Kia's 'Opposites United' design language, exhibiting a sophisticated yet rugged look. Its unique boxy, triangular shape, complemented by short overhangs and an extended wheelbase, underscores its sturdy build. The EV9 is only the second model from Kia to be built on the E-GMP electric platform, highlighting its significance in the brand's lineup.

Release Plans and Features

Set for a late 2023 release, the Kia EV9 Light RWD is priced starting at $54,900, not including destination fees. This flagship SUV will come equipped with features such as DC fast-charging, a 19-inch alloy wheelset, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with heating and ventilation options. The EV9 is expected to offer an all-electric range of 230 miles, as estimated by the EPA. Starting in 2024, the production of the EV9 will shift to Kia's advanced facility in West Point, Georgia.

The Kia EV9's nomination for the 2024 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year highlights its status as a significant contender in the electric vehicle market. Its combination of distinctive design, advanced battery and powertrain options, and a variety of features position it as a noteworthy competitor. The final decision for the award will be announced on January 4, 2024.
