2026 EV4 Expands Kia's Electric Vehicle Portfolio for Canada

2026 EV4 Expands Kia's Electric Vehicle Portfolio for Canada

Kia strengthens its electric vehicle lineup with the introduction of the 2026 EV4. Recently unveiled at the New York International Auto Show, this compact electric sedan joins the EV6 and EV9 in Kia's zero-emission portfolio, adding an all-electric option to the compact sedan segment.

Expected to arrive in Canadian showrooms in early 2026, the EV4 adds versatility to Kia's electric offerings. As Kia's first global all-electric sedan, it gives Canadian drivers a new option beyond the current selection of electric crossovers and SUVs.

Growing Electric Options for Every Need

The 2026 Kia EV4 fills an important position in Kia's electric vehicle strategy. With the addition of this compact sedan, you now have electric options across multiple vehicle categories - from the compact EV4 sedan to the midsize EV6 crossover and the three-row EV9 SUV.

This expanded lineup lets you choose the electric Kia that best fits your lifestyle needs. If you prefer the driving dynamics and efficiency of a sedan but want electric power, the EV4 now gives you that option without compromising on range or features.

The EV4 uses the same 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that forms the base for Kia's other electric models, ensuring consistent performance and charging capabilities across the lineup. This shared architecture allows for rapid charging, long range, and useful interior space across different vehicle sizes.

Multiple Configurations for Canadian Drivers

The 2026 EV4 will arrive in Canada with several configurations to match your specific needs. Initially available with front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive versions will follow later in 2026, giving you options for all Canadian driving conditions.

You can choose from five distinct trim levels in Canada:

  • Light FWD with standard-range battery
  • Wind FWD/AWD with long-range battery
  • Wind Premium FWD/AWD with long-range battery
  • GT-Line FWD/AWD with long-range battery
  • GT-Line Limited FWD/AWD with long-range battery

Each trim offers different combinations of features, range, and performance. The standard-range Light trim uses a 58.3 kWh battery providing 378 km of range, while long-range models feature an 81.4 kWh battery delivering up to 531 km of range, depending on the trim and wheel size.

Practical Range and Charging Solutions

The 2026 EV4 addresses everyday practicality with its impressive range and charging capabilities. With up to 531 km of range on a single charge, you can handle daily commuting and weekend trips without frequent charging stops.

When you do need to charge, the EV4 makes the process quick and convenient. Using DC fast-charging, you can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 29 minutes with the 58.3 kWh battery or 31 minutes with the 81.4 kWh battery.

The standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) port ensures compatibility with the growing charging network across Canada. For added convenience, the charging port is located on the front passenger side for easy access at most charging stations.

More Than Transportation

The 2026 EV4 does more than just transport you from point A to B. With available Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, your EV4 becomes a mobile power source for compatible electronics like laptops, lighting, and small appliances.

This feature adds practical value during outdoor activities, power outages, or any situation where portable power becomes useful. The EV4 essentially functions as a rolling battery that can power your devices when traditional outlets aren't available.

Inside, the EV4 offers surprising space efficiency despite its compact exterior dimensions. The dedicated electric platform allows for a flat floor and optimized interior layout, giving you and your passengers more usable space than you might expect from a vehicle in this class.

Advanced Technology Integration

The 2026 EV4 incorporates Kia's latest technology features to enhance your driving experience. The nearly 30-inch combined widescreen display—featuring dual 12.3-inch screens and a five-inch climate display—serves as the hub for vehicle controls and information.

This interface runs Kia's connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) system, which can receive over-the-air updates to keep your vehicle's software current throughout ownership. Standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto ensure seamless integration with your smartphone.

Additional technology features include Kia's available Digital Key 2.0, allowing you to use a compatible smartphone to unlock, lock, and even start your EV4. The system also lets you control climate settings remotely, so your cabin is comfortable before you enter the vehicle.

Safety Systems for Peace of Mind

Your safety receives priority attention with the 2026 EV4's comprehensive driver assistance suite. Standard features include Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist.

The available Highway Driving Assist system adds another layer of confidence during highway travel. Under certain conditions, it automatically adjusts your speed to match posted limits and maintains appropriate following distance from vehicles ahead.

These systems work together to support your driving without taking over control. The standard Hands-On Detection system ensures you remain engaged with the driving task, providing warnings if you remove your hands from the steering wheel for too long.

A New Electric Option Arrives

The 2026 Kia EV4 adds an important piece to Kia's electric vehicle strategy. By bringing electric power to the compact sedan segment, it gives you more choices when considering the switch to zero-emission driving.
