Many Quebec neighbourhoods feature charming older homes built long before anyone imagined electric vehicles. These properties often lack the electrical infrastructure needed for traditional Level 2 EV charging, creating a barrier for residents interested in making the switch to electric driving. Kia Canada has partnered with Canadian energy technology company Variablegrid to solve this exact...

The Kia Sorento undergoes a profound transformation for 2021, a metamorphosis that will allow us to witness the birth of the best generation of the model since its debut.
In fact, it's the fourth generation and for the occasion, Kia has put a lot of effort into it. Let's see what the range has in store for us over the next few weeks... and the next year.
A total of six versions
The 2021 Sorento family will have six versions. At the entry-level, the LX+ and LX Premium versions will be available. Prices for the latter have been set at $35,960 and $38,460 respectively. The reason we're grouping them together is that they'll benefit from a new engine, a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that offers 191 horsepower and 182 lb-ft of torque. And as will be the case with the other four variants, they will offer all-wheel drive, as well as an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Next in the lineup is a new one, the X-Line model. It will feature some notable differences, including higher ground clearance, more recognizable styling, unique 20-inch alloy wheels and a second-row captain seat configuration.
It is priced at $41,460. Under the hood, as will be the case with the other three models at the top of the hierarchy, is a new 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine that will deliver 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
Interestingly, Kia notes fuel economy gains with both new engines. Their respective averages are 9.7 and 9.9 L/100 km (city/highway).
And for the other three versions, we're talking about the EX, EX+ and SX models. For the latter, Kia’s asking $42,960, $45,960 and $49,460, in that order.
High-tech
As for the rest, it is a frankly modern Sorento that awaits us. A new, lighter, stiffer platform for a more solid ride, and a redesigned interior with a digital instrument cluster, among other things. There's also a blind spot system that displays the image captured by the side cameras, whether you want to change lanes to the right or left.
And that's not to mention the fact that Kia is preparing for the arrival of a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid variant a little later in 2021. These two new additions will also come with all-wheel drive.
In short, 2021 will be the year of the Sorento at Kia.
