2021 Kia Sorento: a lineup designed to meet your needs

The Kia Sorento is getting a makeover in 2021 and Kia didn't go in for half measures. Its SUV is more complete than ever thanks to a wide range that's sure to meet every need.

Let's take a look at each of the models offered and take the time to highlight some of the key elements it puts forward.

LX+

The offer is launched with the LX+ version, which serves up a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is associated with it and its towing capacity is set at 2,800 pounds.

When it comes to equipment, it's interesting right from the start with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications on board, as well as Bluetooth telephony, a six-speaker audio system, an eight-inch screen in the center console, cruise control, front and rear USB ports, heated front seats and a seven-seat interior configuration with sliding seats in the second row.

The model also benefits from all-wheel drive (standard on all Sorento models), driving modes depending on the type of terrain encountered, a frontal collision avoidance system (car and pedestrian), a start/stop system, and automatic headlights.

And that's just part of the technical specifications for this entry-level version.

LX Premium

With this version, you get the same engine, but with a little more convenience. This is the case when it comes to safety, with the addition of rear and blind-spot collision avoidance systems, a smart key with push-button start, a wireless charger for cell phones, a heated steering wheel, a dual-zone automatic climate control system, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear selector.

X-Line

Kia is adding a variant to the 2021 Sorento family. The X-Line model features a more rugged appearance marked by higher ground clearance, silver front and rear skid plates, a silver grille, matte black trim and 20-inch machined alloy wheels.

Starting with this variant, the Sorento uses the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, a mill that offers 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. It's also mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with dual clutches. Towing capacity is 3,500 pounds with this powerplant. The model also offers steering wheel-mounted paddles, an electronic parking brake and second-row captain seats (six-passenger configuration).

EX

A jump to the EX version adds sporty exterior bumpers, 20-inch alloy wheels (painted black), LED headlights, roof rails and gloss black trim, leatherette seats, woodgrain accents inside, power passenger seat, XM satellite radio, UVO telematics services and a power tailgate.

EX+.

With the EX+ model, you get it all with LED fog lights and headlights, a panoramic sunroof, heated second-row seats, LED interior lighting, more luxurious interior door handles, rear-seat warning, front and rear parking sensors, intelligent cruise control, and a frontal collision avoidance system that also takes into account cyclists and oncoming traffic at intersections.

SX

Finally, at the top of the line, the SX variant delivers everything the customer asks for. This model features a fully digital instrument panel, automatic front wipers, a premium Bose audio system, remote-folding second-row seats, leather upholstery, memory for the driver's position, and luxury interior trim.
